A $500 reward is being offered for information that leads to the arrest of a man accused of killing a Shadle Park High School student last week.

Nicholas J. Walter, 23, is accused of shooting Matthew Migaki, 17, during a drug robbery June 5. Police say Walter and two teens planned to rob Mikagi by offering to buy marijuana from him. The plan called for Walter to intimidate Mikagi by working the action of a sawed-off shotgun, but the gun fired and struck Mikagi in the neck as the four young men sat in a car, according to court documents.

After Walter allegedly shot Migaki, Caleb J. Hanowell, 16, and James N. Beasley, 15, drove Migaki to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead. Walter fled with the shotgun and marijuana.

Hanowell and Beasley were jailed on suspicion of murder.

Walter is 5-foot-10 and 230 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes.

Anyone with information is asked to call Secret Witness at 327-5111. Callers do not have to give their name to be eligible for the reward.
