Now, here’s a tip!

JoAnn Derson King Features Syndicate

• “When you have to iron a silk shirt or any other material that is very delicate, shake a little baby powder on your ironing board and go over and over it with your hot iron. Then you can use the iron on your fabric and it will slide right over it.” — C.K. in Pennsylvania

Sewing Tip: Run your thread through a sheet of fabric softener to prevent tangling.

• “I do a lot of baking in the cooler months, but during the summer I do a lot of freezing. For hot-weather treats, I make frozen bananas. They are a snap. Take a banana, peel it and cut it in thirds. Dip it in a glass of water to which you’ve added the juice of half a lemon. Then cover it in chocolate syrup, roll it in nuts and jam a Popsicle stick into the cut end. Wrap in wax paper, freeze and enjoy!” — U.L. in California
