Program offers free meals for children

The Spokesman-Review

School is out. Free breakfast and lunch is in.

Three Spokane Valley school districts are teaming up to offer free meals for students this summer through the federally funded Summer Nutrition Program.

The program ensures that low-income children have access to nutritious meals through the summer months, after other school nutrition programs end.

The meals, served at selected school sites, are available to all children 18 years and younger. No registration is needed and children may eat at any school site, regardless of which school district they attend.

The meals must be eaten at the school site, and children may eat on as many days as they wish, both breakfast and lunch. No meals will be served July 4.
