Looking back Flower delivery truck in 1965
Refrigeration system keeps buds fresh
In February 1965, Charles C. Parsons, right, had finished working on a cooling system in his flower delivery truck. The system would maintain the interior temperature at 45 degrees, minimizing damage to flowers during delivery in extreme Spokane weather conditions. Parsons, owner of Coldwell-Garland Florists, took about four years to insulate the truck with fiberglass and installing a refrigeration unit behind the driver’s seat. William Orr, at left, drove the truck.According to Parsons, the National Florists Association asked for details on his concept.
