Open house planned for S. Perry

The Spokesman-Review

The South Perry Business Association is having an open house on Wednesday to present information about forming a National Historic District. Plans for the sixth annual South Perry Street Faire also will be discussed.

The Open House will be at The Shop, 924 S. Perry St., from 6 to 8 p.m..

South Perry is the first in the East Central neighborhood to pursue a designation as an historic district. The proposed historic district would be bounded by Newark and 14th, and Arthur and Helena. Linda Yeomans, a historic preservation planner and designer, will present information on the completed surveys and the ongoing work.

Volunteers are needed to do research on properties in the area. Organizers would like to have the district in place by the fall.

The Street Faire is scheduled for Saturday, July 16. Plans also include a Friday night kickoff event and activities in Grant Park.
