Firefighters association fund-raiser coming up

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Valley Firefighters Benevolent Association will hold its annual auction March 25 at Percy’s Cafe Americana at the University City Mall.

The event, which runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m., also will include wine and beer tasting with representatives from eight wineries and three breweries. Hors d’oeuvres will be served.

For the first time the group will have live bidding on a used car donated by Dishman Dodge. Silent auction items include Spokane Symphony tickets, a football signed by Drew Bledsoe, Gonzaga University gear, tickets to a Spokane Indians game and a recliner.

In years past the proceeds from the fund-raiser were used to help families burned out of their homes and to host a children’s breakfast with Santa, said Patty Evans, a vice president of the organization. Donations also have been given to Valleyfest and the Spokane Valley Community Center.

Last year’s auction raised $5,800.

“It’s all given back to the community,” Evans said. “I think we’ll have more this year. We have more silent auction items, and we have the car.”

Tickets are $30 and will be available at the door. Each ticket holder can taste eight drinks and will receive a wine glass. Call 939-5567 for more information.
