Man shot while riding ATV

A man was accidentally shot Sunday while riding an ATV near target shooters, the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office said Sunday in a news release.

The man, 65, was riding about 4:30 p.m. in the area of Power Line Road and Chilco Road south of Athol, deputies said. He was taken to Kootenai Medical Center, where he is in stable condition. His name was being withheld Sunday pending notification of family.

No further details were available late Sunday.
