Returning all-leaguers: First team—Matt Harnetiaux, sr., LC, Avery Washington, sr., Ferris, Keith Kirsch, Jeff Srock, Mt. Spokane. Second team—Ben Funkhouser, jr., East Valley; Keith Realing, jr, University; Kyle Yonago, sr., Ferris.

New coaches: Chris Allen, Gonzaga Prep; Matt Stueckle, Mead; John Marshall, Mt. Spokane.

Schedule: Three-time defending champion LC puts its 37-match league winning streak to the test at 7 tonight at Central Valley. LC is two wins shy of tying the league-record streak set by Mead. Title contenders Ferris at Mt. Spokane play at 4 p.m. today. Also at 4 are Rogers at West Valley, Cheney at Clarkston, EV at North Central, Shadle Park at Mead, and U-Hi at G-Prep. League plays Wednesday and Friday next week before taking spring break.

Free kicks: 3A Cheney joined LC as a state semifinalist and fourth-place finisher last year. The Blackhawks went 2-1 in their regional, beating perennial state finalists WV-Yakima, topped Sequim in a shootout and avenged its regional final loss to Sunnyside to reach the semis. … After losing 1-0 to Ferris in the district title match, LC beat Wenatchee and Pasco in State 4A play. … Cheney and LC lost their semifinal and consolation matches by a goal each. … CV returns 14 players and Mt. Spokane 10. In Monday non-league matches, Shadle defeated LC and EV beat Ferris in overtime. An interesting race looms.
