Baseball fair planned Saturday
The Spokane Baseball Association, along with its sponsors, are inviting baseball and softball enthusiasts to the Spokane Baseball Fair from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at fields 1 to 5, at Franklin Park, 120 W. Queen Ave. The event is free.
Boys and girls ages 7-18 can compete in various skill competitions from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. (tie-breakers at 4 p.m.).
Competitive events include: Pitch, Hit and Run Competition, sponsored by Major League Baseball and Pepsi (ages 7-14); Spokane Baseball Home Run Derby (ages 10-18); and Jugs/Spokane Athletic Fielding Competition (ages 10-18).
Participants can test their pitching speed on the Les Schwab Speed Pitching machine and buy and sell used baseball and softball equipment at the consignment booth.
There will be raffles and prize giveaways throughout the day. Clinics will be offered, and food will be available.
