Campout, donations will benefit homeless area youths

The Spokesman-Review

Youth and adult members of the Prince of Peace Mission Ministry Trip Team plan to raise awareness about Spokane’s homeless teens by camping out Saturday and Sunday in front of the church, 8441 N. Indian Trail Road.

A community outreach project, and food and clothing drive, will raise funds for Spokane’s Crosswalk support center. Donations of food, clothing or cash will be accepted by the team continuously, day and night, from 4:30 p.m. Saturday through 12:30 p.m. Sunday.

Crosswalk, sponsored by Volunteers of America, is a multiservice center for street kids, homeless and high-risk youth age 13 to 17. Services include shelter, school, food, medical assistance, counseling, clothing, case management, recreation and referrals to substance abuse and mental health treatment.

Donors are reminded that clothing should be in good repair and in sizes for youth 13-17 years of age.
