Mother’s Day sale – The Monroe Street Antique District is having a Mother’s Day Sale this weekend. Nine antique stores between Dalton Avenue and the Monroe Street Bridge will be offering discounts of 10 to 50 percent off on most merchandise. Maps to the participating shops are available from any merchant.
A good cause – Camp Fire USA is holding a garage sale to benefit the Camp Fire scholarship fund today, through Sunday, from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. The sale is held in memory of Kaite “Blue” Schmidt, a long-time camper and counselor. Schmidt was 24 when she died in 2004, shortly after being diagnosed with a rare form of cancer. The benefit garage sale will be at 2304 W. LaCrosse, near the Shadle Wal-Mart.
Spokane County Valley Market – There is a new outdoor market opening Saturday and Sunday. The Spokane County Valley Market, located at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center south lot, will feature crafters, flea market vendors, a farmers’ market and an auto lot for used cars. Garden Expo – The annual Garden Expo at Spokane Community College will be May 14, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Forget-Me-Not Antiques and Gifts in Coeur d’Alene will be on hand with vintage garden items and décor. The sale is in the Spokane Community College Lair, 1810 N. Greene St. Admission is free.
Barn Sale – There is a real barn sale being held on the Peone Prairie next Friday and May 13-14. Sandy Christensen and friends have gathered wonderful items like kitchen collectibles, vintage light fixtures, antique furniture, framed artwork, vintage garden items and architectural pieces including old windows and hand made stained glass pieces and brought them to her 120-year-old barn to sell. Homemade cookies and cold drinks will be available. Sale hours are 9 a.m.-3 p.m. both days. Florence Boutwell, author of the Spokane Valley historical series, will be on hand to sell and autograph copies of her books. The Christensen barn is off Stoneman Road in Mead at 11210 N. The Farm Chicks – The Farm Chicks sale is coming up. Twice a year the little town of Fairfield revels in all the hoopla surrounding the Farm Chicks’ sales. May 21 and 22, vendors selling antiques, collectibles and rustic items will fill the Fairfield Grange Hall, and spread out across the city park. Food, music and a farmers’ market will be available both days. Show hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. both days. Admission is $5. To get there take the Argonne exit (287) off Interstate 90 and cross Sprague Avenue. Argonne becomes Dishman-Mica Road. Follow Dishman-Mica Road to Highway 27. Flea Market – May 21, the spring flea market will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church, 15515 N. Gleneden Drive. Vendors will fill the parking lot with booths full of household items and collectibles. To get there take Highway 395 north to the Wandemere exit. Follow Wandemere Road north to Gleneden. Follow signs. Rain will cancel the sale.
Everybody’s Bazaar and Yard Sale – With gas at more than $2 a gallon, you can get your garage sale fix, and save even more money by hitting multiple sales held under one roof. The giant bazaar will be May 21 at the Spokane Fair and Expo Center, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m.
Kootenai Kountry Antiques and Collectibles Show – The first annual Kootenai Kountry Antiques and Collectibles Show will be May 21 and 22 at the Memorial Center in Libby, Mont.
