White Sox 5, Blue Jays 4: At Toronto, Mark Buehrle won his fourth straight decision, and Jermaine Dye and Juan Uribe homered to lead Chicago past Toronto for its eighth straight victory.
Rangers 7, Indians 2: At Arlington, Texas, Kenny Rogers extended his shutout streak to 21 innings with seven innings of six-hit ball as Texas beat Cleveland. Rogers (3-2) struck out four and walked four in winning his third straight start, stretching the longest shutout streak by a Rangers starter since Rogers’ club-record 39 consecutive scoreless innings in 1995.
Royals 10, Orioles 8: At Baltimore, Kansas City blew a seven-run lead, then scored the tiebreaking run on an eighth-inning balk by Steve Kline to defeat Baltimore.
Twins 9, Devil Rays 6: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Justin Morneau had his second career four-hit game and drove in three runs, leading Minnesota past Tampa Bay.
Tigers 10, Angels 1: At Anaheim, Calif., Mike Maroth pitched three-hit ball over eight innings, Ivan Rodriguez triggered a seven-run third with a three-run triple and Brandon Inge homered, leading Detroit over Los Angeles.
National League
Braves 16, Astros 0: At Atlanta, Mike Hampton pitched a two-hitter and homered, and rookie Ryan Langerhans had six RBIs as Atlanta completed a four-game sweep of Houston with a win, the Astros’ 11th straight road loss.
Rockies 8, Marlins 3: At Miami, Clint Barmes’ inside-the-park home run scored three runs, and Aaron Miles hit a grand slam to help Colorado beat Florida and snap a 10-game losing streak. Rookie Barmes went 2 for 4, hiking his average to .404. Florida’s Juan Pierre tied a club record by going 5 for 5, all singles, stole three bases and drove in a run.
Cubs 2, Phillies 1: At Chicago, Neifi Perez and Aramis Ramirez homered to back Carlos Zambrano’s five-hitter, and Chicago defeated Philadephia.
Cardinals 15, Padres 5: At St. Louis, Scott Rolen had four RBIs, and David Eckstein had two hits and an RBI in an 11-run first inning as St. Louis beat San Diego. .
Brewers 5, Mets 4: At Milwaukee, rookie J.J. Hardy singled in Junior Spivey with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning as Milwaukee ended New York’s four-game winning streak.
Pirates 16, Diamondbacks 2: At Phoenix, Matt Lawton hit his first grand slam in six years, helping Pittsburgh win for the fifth time in six games by beating Arizona.
Giants 4, Nationals 3 (13): At San Francisco, Omar Vizquel doubled home the winning run in the 13th inning for his third RBI of the game as San Francisco beat Washington, ending its season-worst, four-game losing streak.
Dodgers 9, Reds 3: At Cincinnati, Jason Phillips’ first career grand slam topped a stellar performance by Ken Griffey Jr. and rallied Los Angeles over Cincinnati. Griffey hit his 504th career homer.
