Ruidoso, N.M. Officials were searching for a missing 16-month-old boy and his stepfather Monday after the child’s mother was found dead hours after police had answered a domestic call at their apartment.

An Amber Alert was issued for Justin Black, last seen Sunday when police responded to a dispute between his mother and her husband.

Man who was fired kills worker at clinic

San Francisco A man who was fired at a mental health center last year returned to Conard House on Monday and opened fire with a handgun, killing one employee.

Two others tackled the gunman as he reached for a shotgun, police said. Gregory Gray, 54, of San Francisco, was charged with murder. An administrator said he had been fired in September.

The victim was a father of two who had worked for Conard House and at homeless shelters.

Reimbursed care OK’d for illegal immigrants

Washington Health-care providers can charge the government for emergency care for illegal immigrants starting today.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services issued rules on Monday for reimbursement.

Lawmakers set aside $1 billion over four years for the program, created by Medicare legislation passed in 2003.
