Homeowners Bud and Kathleen Hazel describe their picturesque Tudor revival-style cottage as “a little gem.”

The 1939 clinker brick house, with dramatic “weeping” mortar, caught Kathleen Hazel’s eye years ago when she was a student at Eastern Washington University.

“I thought it was a doll of a house,” she said.

Surrounded by a well-tended landscape that includes flowering trees and terraced gardens, the interior features oak floors, Honduran mahogany built-ins and the original leaded windows.

The couple has lived there for 10 years, and readily admits that they reap the benefit of the loving maintenance of previous owners.

“This house has been taken care of, and I’m so grateful that I live here,” Kathleen Hazel says. “As each year goes by, I love it more.”
