Look what I found!

Therese Walden of Airway Heights has an eye for a good bargain. When she spied a dainty watch among the items at a church rummage sale three years ago, she thought it had potential. It didn’t work, but it fit her wrist perfectly, so she happily paid the $10 price.

When Walden had the watch appraised she discovered her $10 splurge was a 14-karat-gold “Lady Elgin” from the 1950s, worth many times what she paid.

Her husband had it repaired as a Christmas gift and now she wears it often.

“At the time, when I found it in the booth at the sale, I didn’t really think it was worth anything,” Walden says, “But I just fell in love with it.”
