County seeks comments on planned park

The Spokane County Parks and Recreation Department is asking for citizen comment regarding the South Side Community Park planned for near 61st and Freya.

A public design input meeting will be at 7:15 tonight at the Moran Prairie Grange, 6001 S. Palouse Highway.

Participants will learn more about existing plans for the park and be asked to complete a survey identifying additional amenities they would like to see incorporated into the park’s design.

A meeting will be at 7 p.m. Nov. 29 at the Moran Prairie Grange Hall to review and comment on actual concept designs that will be based on previous comments.

The Parks Department is also surveying Spokane Public Schools students living nearby for their input.

Depending on the outcome of these meetings, a park master design plan may be accepted for presentation to the Spokane County Parks Advisory Committee at a regular meeting for deliberation and recommendation to the county commissioners for final consideration.

For more information, call parks planner Steve Horobiowski at 477-2529.

High-speed Internet comes to Reardan area

High speed Internet is on the way for residents in rural areas outside Reardan.

Crews have been digging trenches in six different sites to place fiber-optic cable and give phone customers an option for DSL, said CenturyTel spokeswoman Jacquie Goodwill.

The project is expected to wrap up by December, and customers should be able to request service as each segment of the project is finished, she said.
