The B’s

Northeast B-11: Davenport, Reardan and Liberty have all clinched playoff bids, and the fourth is on the line Friday night in Ritzville when Selkirk (3-5, 3-4) visits 10th-ranked Lind-Ritzville (5-3, 4-3). A Selkirk win would be the school’s first playoff football appearance since 1986. If the Broncos win, it would be their sixth straight playoff showing, although 2003 was as a 1A school and the 1999, 2000 and ‘01 appearances were as Ritzville.

District 7: The Northeast District B volleyball tournament runs today and Saturday at St. George’s to determine the three teams into the state tournament. In the past four years, 10 of the 14 (71.4 percent) state representatives from the tournament have been from the Bi-County, with the Panorama sending one team each year.

Southeast B-8: No. 4 Tri-Cities Prep (8-1, 4-1) can clinch the league’s second football playoff spot and a first-round date with No. 2 Columbia (Hunters) if it defeats Colton-Pullman Christian (7-2, 3-2). If CPC wins and St. John-Endicott (5-3, 3-2) defeats Jubilee Academy (4-5, 1-4), there will be a three-way tie for second place.

Whitman County: Four WCL and four Blue Mountain Conference volleyball teams will vie for two State B berths in this weekend’s District 9 tournament. Reigning state champion Garfield-Palouse, which won the WCL tournament Monday, will start tonight’s action at Walla Walla HS against BMC No. 4 Touchet. That winner will face the winner of Tekoa-Oakesdale and Dayton, and the corresponding losers will play as well. The other first-round pairings are BMC champion Pomeroy against Rosalia, and DeSales against LaCrosse-Washtucna. The tourney ends Saturday at Colfax.
