Town’s voters appear to like living in Vader
VADER, Wash. – Given a chance to change, the citizens of this small Lewis County town have apparently decided to remain known as Vader.
The results are still not official, but the Lewis County Auditors Office reports that a ballot measure to change the town’s name from Vader to Little Falls is failing 91 votes to 75 votes.
“First, I’m disappointed it did not pass, but secondly, I’m encouraged this came about through a popular vote of the people,” Dave Holland, the sponsor of the measure, told the Chronicle.
Holland had previously tried to get the City Council to change the name, but caused so much commotion among the town’s residents that Holland decided to put the change to a vote.
The town of 600 was incorporated in 1906 with the name Little Falls. It was changed to Vader in 1913 because the railroad that served the town already had a Little Falls on its line.
