Recruiting inconsistent

The Spokesman-Review

Interesting, isn’t it, that the WSU football staff can recruit some of the best talent in the nation? On the other hand, they seem to recruit players who are not Pac-10 material.

Are there some loose links in the chain of command? I recommend they calculate who is not capable of evaluating talent and make the appropriate changes before losing the ability to recruit the top talent that deserves a reasonable expectation of winning.

My heart bleeds for the young men who are so talented, worked so hard, and were rewarded with nothing. Your efforts, however, are greatly appreciated and Cougars fans will follow your careers and wish you the best at the next level.

In the meanwhile, Cougars athletics should take a lesson from Gonzaga and schedule tough competition in pre-conference games that will prepare them for the very tough Pac-10 schedule.

I have always felt the Cougars were seriously disadvantaged in not having a large stadium and large population base to draw national powers for a home game. Then along came Qwest Field in Seattle, and along came the weakest opponents imaginable. Talk about wasting limited resources! Fans who loyally support your teams deserve better.
