Taxpayers who need more time to file their tax returns can get a six-month extension using one simplified form beginning next year. One form will replace a two-step process, which automatically granted a four-month extension to taxpayers who requested extra time, but required taxpayers to have a good reason for getting another two months to finish the forms.
