Jerel Rowe, Newman Lake, picked up this $45 vintage baby scale at the Farm Chicks sale in Fairfield this fall.

Rowe collects scales and displays his collection in his kitchen. “I have space on top of the oak cabinets, so I put the scales up there,” he says.

Rowe has been collecting vintage scales for eight years and his favorite is a simple piece from the late 1800s. “It’s the most unusual one I have,” he says. “And the oldest.”

Rowe likes antiques, especially Mission style furniture. The Farm Chick’ sale is one of his favorites.

“Oh, we don’t miss them,” he says. “I’ve been to every one.”
