Bobcats edge ISU
Travis Lulay threw one touchdown and ran for another Saturday as Montana State won its Big Sky conference opener over Idaho State 30-28 in Bozeman, Mont.
Lulay completed 22 of 30 passes for 249 yards and rushed for 49 yards, including a 20-yard touchdown run, for the Bobcats’ ( 3-2, 1-0) only score in the second half. He was intercepted once.
ISU (3-2, 1-1), ranked 24th in I-AA play, pulled to 30-28 on a 3-yard run by Ken Cornist with 11:30 left in the game, but was held to 7 yards on its final two series.
Montana 24, Weber St. 19
Lex Hilliard rushed 24 times for 159 yards and a touchdown and Montana’s defense held in the final minute of a 24-19 homecoming victory over Weber State in Missoula.
Montana (3-1, 1-0), ranked fourth in I-AA play, led 14-10 on Hilliard’s 3-yard TD run midway through the second quarter. The Griz took a 21-10 lead on a 54-yard interception return by Torrey Thomas early in the third.
Sac State 38, N. Arizona 24
Held to just a field goal in the first half the Hornets (1-4, 1-1) exploded for five touchdowns in the second half en route to a victory over the Lumberjacks (2-3, 0-2).
