State, developer agree on terms

The Department of Ecology and Gary Correll, a Lake Spokane developer, have reached an agreement through mediation on how to maintain a portion of the lake’s shoreline.

A $10,000 penalty was suspended under a settlement agreement recently reached by the two parties. The penalty was issued for violating a conditional-use permit issued in 1998.

Correll created a 1,500-foot canal connected to Lake Spokane’s south bank, built a vehicle bridge across the canal and constructed docks for 25 waterfront lots.

Correll has agreed to obtain permits for the docks, revegetate a buffer zone along the canal and install signs to inform potential buyers of requirements to protect the buffer.
