Wood, Steele forge LC win
Cody Steele scored 30 seconds after halftime and Brandon Wood iced it with 10 minutes left as Lake City shut out Moscow 2-0 in Inland Empire League boys soccer action Saturday at Moscow.
Steele’s goal, in the 41st minute, came off a set piece as the Timberwolves (8-4-2, 6-3-1) took the lead right after the break.
Wood’s goal, which came in the 70th minute, was a volley that took a deflection off the back of Moscow’s Justin Kuska.
Lake City outshot the Bears (3-8, 2-8) 11-1 en route to the victory.
In other IEL action, Post Falls (8-6, 5-6) got goals from Casey Siers in the sixth minute and Corbin Loutsis in the 36th in a 2-1 win over Lewiston (5-6-2, 5-4-1) in Post Falls. •Miguel Mendez scored and had a pair of assists and Jesus Mendez had a goal and an assist as Bonners Ferry (10-2-1, 5-0) routed Orofino (0-4, 0-3) 6-0 in Intermountain League action at Orofino. … St. Maries (5-9-1, 3-2) registered a victory as Priest River (0-3, 0-3) was forced to forfeit.
Girls soccer
Jennifer Putman had a hat trick and Brandi Wagner had two goals as visiting Bonners Ferry (4-6-1, 4-0-1) shut out Orofino (0-6, 0-5) 6-0 in IML play.

Beth Samuel had nine kills, four aces and 13 digs as Post Falls (4-7 Inland Empire League) held off Sandpoint (2-8) 21-25, 25-22, 25-17, 20-25, 15-11 during Senior Night at Post Falls.
