From staff reports

Police shut down U.S. Highway 2 north of Spokane on Monday evening after a vehicle crashed into a streetlight and a power pole.

The driver was seriously injured and taken to a hospital by a helicopter that landed on the roadway, said Trooper Mark Baker of the Washington State Patrol. His name was not released and an update on his condition was unavailable Monday night.

The crash happened about 7 p.m.

The driver was southbound on the highway near Day Mount Spokane Road when the crash occurred, Baker said.
