Cleanup opportunity for Edgecliff residents
Residents of the Edgecliff neighborhood are invited to clean out their basements, garages and yards today. Edgecliff SCOPE volunteers will be in position from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Pratt Elementary, Third and Coleman, accepting everything from yard waste to old appliances.
“We’ll take just about anything people can take out to the Waste Management site,” said Edgecliff SCOPE president Rick Scott. Toxic items such as paint and cleaners will not be accepted.
The free program is open to those living east of Havana, west of Argonne, south of Broadway and north of 12th Avenue. Volunteers will be asking for proof of residency.
The last time a similar project was done more than a year ago volunteers took in 120 tons of waste and 10 tons of recyclable items, said Scott. The effort is being paid for by a Weed and Seed grant.
