Pursuit suspect sought

Spokane Valley police continued searching Thursday for a man who fled on foot after leading them on a 40-minute chase two days earlier.

Deputies were unable to positively establish the identity of the suspect but believe it was the same thief they chased on a stolen motorcycle in the same area of Spokane Valley a week ago, Spokane Valley police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said.

The pursuit of the suspect began about 5 p.m. Tuesday, when he was seen driving a stolen truck on Appleway Road, Reagan said. The suspect led police down several Valley roadways before driving up a hillside at the end of Lincoln Road. He then ran into the forested area.

Police assisted by Spokane County Sheriff’s Office deputies initially intended to track the suspect, but called it off because of the dark and unfamiliar terrain, Reagan said. Police were also concerned the suspect may be armed.
