Sports Creel hosts factory reps, premiere of ‘WAR’

Skiers can embrace winter by checking out cool gear and watching ski movies at an upcoming event sponsored by Sports Creel Inc.

Factory representatives will showcase the latest ski products, answer questions and hand out freebies at the store on Oct. 22.

“That’s just a chance for people to come in and meet the people who sell us stuff,” said Micah Genteman of Sports Creel.

Companies sending representatives include Oakley, Armanda, Automic, K2, Salomon, Wolkl, Tecnica, Elan, Marker, Smith, Giro, Spacecraft, School, Obermeyer, Joystick and X-Sock.

In addition to gear, top skiers featured in the film “WAR” will be there to meet people and sign autographs. The free event runs from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Sports Creel, 12505 E. Sprague.

Later, a Washington premiere of the ski movie “WAR,” by Poor Boyz Productions, is being shown at Players and Spectators, 12828 E. Sprague.

Top professional skiers Anthony Boronowski, Sammy Carlson, Andy Mahre and Zach Davison will sign autographs and pose for photos during the day.

The factory rep activities at the store are free. Tickets to the premiere of “WAR” cost $15 each and the film is one of several being shown. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and the movie begins at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets enter moviegoers into a raffle with prizes that include new skies, new ski outfits and a season pass to an area ski hill.

Medicine Shoppe moving onto Sprague

A small pharmacy specializing in personalized care is moving from 520 S. Pines into 12414 E. Sprague, near Ron’s Drive-in.

John Antich and his wife Betzi have owned Medicine Shoppe for 15 years.

The new 2,000-square-foot suite will have a drive-through for prescription pickups and areas for private health screenings, including individual blood pressure checks.

“We’re right now making it our mission to educate seniors on the new Medicare Part D prescription drug plan,” Antich said.

“It’s extremely confusing, and we’re trying to help patients simplify program options.

Antich expects the move to be completed in November. Medicine Shoppe’s phone number will remain 924-1222.

Bed store opens at Spokane Valley Mall

People looking for a good night’s sleep have another option for nighttime comfort.

Select Comfort recently opened on the first floor of the Spokane Valley Mall, beneath the food court.

Select Comfort, a company with 390 stores nationwide selling mattress and sleeping aids, is celebrating its grand opening this month with discounts and freebies.

The mattresses boast a patented air system that allows couples to have separate adjustments for opposite sides of a bed. Queen-sized mattresses start at $499.

Toni Case, store manager, said the mattresses offer adjustable support that contours to neck, shoulders, back and hips.

“Each side is adjustable, so you don’t have to compromise on a bead,” Case said.

Select Comfort is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. For information, call 232-6205.
