Theft, assault suspect puts teeth into effort

The Spokesman-Review

A 31-year-old shoplifting suspect allegedly bit a security guard Friday night while resisting arrest.

A Sears security officer watched a woman conceal two items in her purse after entering a dressing room about 6:30 p.m. Friday, Spokane Valley Police spokesman Cpl. Dave Reagan said. When the woman and her two children left the store, two security officers followed her into the main hallway of the Spokane Valley Mall. The security officers suspected she took a robe and a nightgown.

Jessica M. Soderberg was charged with third-degree theft and third-degree felony assault, Reagan said. Her children were turned over to one of the woman’s neighbors,

The woman resisted arrest by repeatedly kicking one of the security officers and biting her hard enough to leave tooth marks on her hand, Reagan said. The woman was booked into the Spokane County Jail on the charges.

Meth found after Wal-Mart arrest

The prescription bottle with the methamphetamine inside had his name on it, but the Liberty Lake man said it wasn’t his.

Wal-Mart security watched a man walk through the department store switching price tags on several items Saturday night before taking them up to the check-out stand, Reagan said. The man paid lower-than-marked cost on items totaling nearly $180.

Spokane Valley police arrested the 40-year-old man Saturday during a theft investigation at Wal-Mart, 15727 E. Broadway Ave., Reagan said. Michael Raymond Boniecki was charged with third-degree theft and possession of methamphetamine.

Security officers then took the man into custody until Spokane Valley police arrived, Reagan said. A prescription bottle with a quantity of methamphetamine was found in a pocket.
