Boy who fell from tree in critical condition
An 8-year-old boy who fell from a tree was listed in critical condition at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Monday night.
Joshua Heese was airlifted to the hospital from his home at 724 W. Hastings after witnesses said he fell about 60 feet from the top of a pine, said Lt. Dan Ashe of Spokane Fire District 9.
Firefighters were called to Heese’s home around 4:30 p.m. Monday.
Neighborhood kids told Ashe that Heese was playing in his back yard when he fell from what amounted to about six stories. Ashe said Heese was knocked unconscious and suffered bruises to the head and chest.
A hospital spokesman said Heese was under evaluation at the pediatric intensive-care unit.
