Centers giving out KXLY Coats 4 Kids

This is the 20th anniversary for the KXLY Coats 4 Kids program. The community drops off gently used or new coats for children who might otherwise go without a warm coat this winter. The coats are then cleaned and sorted.

The Northeast Community Center will continue to distribute coats from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday to Friday through Nov. 4 at the center, 4001 N. Cook St. If you can help distribute the coats, call the center at 487-1603.

Coats also will continue to be distributed at the West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt St., through Nov. 4. Hours are 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. and noon, Saturday. To help distribute the coats, call 326-9540.

To receive a coat, bring the child the coat is for and proof of address (medical coupon, utility bill, etc.)

West Central Halloween Carnival

A Halloween Carnival for kids 12 and under will be held Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the West Central Community Center, 1603 N. Belt St.

Kids can wear their costumes, get lots of candy and visit activity booths.

Admission is one can of food, which will be donated to local neighborhood food banks.

Crime-reporting computer

COPS Northwest has dedicated a computer for the public to use to report crime. COPS Northwest is the first and only COP Shop to provide a crime-reporting computer in its lobby and hopes that this will make it easier and less stressful for neighbors to make reports. COPS volunteers are available to help use the computer.

COPS Northwest, 2215 W. Wellesley, Suite D, is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

For information, call 625-3336.
