Vote wasn’t unanimous

Due to a reporter’s error, a story in Thursday’s Region section incorrectly said the Spokane Valley City Council voted unanimously to send a letter to the county demanding joint planning. Councilman Mike DeVleming voted against the measure.

Official clarifies statement

An official from the state Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction was quoted in Thursday’s newspaper as saying that some school districts have resorted to hiding some students during testing to improve the overall scores of their districts. Kim Schmanke clarified Thursday that she meant that has happened only in districts in other states, not Washington.
