Precept Bible study will start Sept. 13

The Spokesman-Review

The annual local “Precept Upon Precept” Bible study begins Sept. 13. Classes run from 9:15 to 11:30 a.m. at the Berean Bible Church on 10910 E. Boone Ave.

This year’s series will cover the books of 1st Peter, 2nd Peter and Jude.

The Precept method stresses in-depth examination of the Bible with lectures, class discussion and homework. Renowned religious writer Kay Anderson, co-founder of the Chattanooga-based Precept Ministries International, created the classes, which have been used around the world.

“It’s not just a Bible study; it’s a ‘how to’ Bible study for yourself … it teaches you the inductive method so you can study the Bible on your own,” said Terri Lundin, who has taught the class for 15 years.

The study is nondenominational, Lundin said, and about 25 to 40 students enroll each year.

Each book will be covered in separate sessions. Lundin said the first session will last 12 weeks, the second for eight weeks and the third for four weeks.

Classes are free. Homework workbooks are available for $10 to $15.

To register, call Lundin at (208) 772-2060 or Berean Bible Church, 924-8832.
