Healing gardens
It’s almost over.
Another all-too-short growing season is coming to an end. Bright and brilliant annuals are looking tired. They’ve grown leggy and are losing their bloom.
Perennials are winding down, preparing for shorter days and longer nights and the cold weather that follows.
Summer is fading away.
So, before you get swept away in the back-to-school, back-to-business craziness; before you have to put away the patio furniture, roll up the hammock and pull the boat out of the lake; before it’s time to move indoors and snuggle up to the fireplace, we thought it would be nice to visit a place that is still verdant and peaceful.
Recently, photographer Kathryn Stevens visited the gardens at the Providence Center for Faith and Healing at Sacred Heart Hospital in Spokane. She returned with beautiful images of flowers, lush green grass, meandering pathways and lacy wrought-iron bridges.
Designed as a place for meditation and healing, the gardens surround the center, which is housed in a former convent, and invite you to stop for a bit and take a deep breath. And that’s exactly what we hope you’ll do.
Summer’s going but it isn’t gone. Not yet
So join us as we spend a little more time in the garden.
