Schnibbe powers U-Hi victory

Tonya Schnibbe scored two goals in the final 14 minutes and had a hat trick and an assist for the match Friday as University defeated Cheney 7-2 in a Greater Spokane League girls soccer match at Cheney.

After freshman Kaitlyn Proctor brought Cheney (2-3, 0-3) within one goal in the 60th minute, U-Hi (5-0, 3-0) blitzed the Blackhawks for four goals in 13 minutes, capped by Schnibbe’s third goal, in the 79th minute.

Rachel Lopez scored twice U-Hi, who had 27 shots on goal. Amy Knox had 20 saves for Cheney.

In other GSL action, Nicole Ervin scored from 20 yards out in the 66th minute as Shadle Park (4-1, 2-1) earned a 1-0 victory over Central Valley (2-3, 2-1). … Alyshah Smith scored twice and Chelsea Mykines added two assists as Mead (3-2, 1-2) won 6-0 at Clarkston (0-5, 0-3). … Lindsay Moles scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season to lead East Valley (4-1, 3-0) to a 5-0 home win over West Valley (2-3, 0-3). … Caitlin Davis had four assists, setting up Sarah Dean twice, as Gonzaga Prep (5-0, 3-0) defeated North Central (1-4, 0-3) 4-0 at home. … Kirsten Bafus assisted Aly Spear twice to lead Ferris (3-1, 3-0) to a 2-0 win over Lewis and Clark (3-2, 2-1) at Hart Field. … Nicole McClosky scored on a penalty kick and added an assist in the first 11 minutes as Mt. Spokane (3-1, 2-1) used an early spurt to defeat host Rogers (0-4, 0-3) 5-0.
