Honsaker leads CdA past Lewiston
Justin Honsaker scored once in each half as Coeur d’Alene held off Lewiston 4-2 in Inland Empire League boys soccer action Saturday in Coeur d’Alene.
Kyle Wise and Travis Hathaway also scored for CdA (4-1-2, 3-0). Dominic Schmidt and Iovko Margaritov registered tallies for Lewiston (3-3-1, 3-1).
In other IEL play, Cody Steele had two goals and an assist as Lake City (3-2-2, 1-1-1) blanked Lakeland (1-6, 1-5) 5-0 at Lake City. Chris Shaw added a pair of assists and Scott Klein made five saves to earn the shutout for LC.
•Daniel Guimaraes scored twice as St. Maries upended Orofino (0-1, 0-1) 5-2 in Intermountain League action at Orofino. Guimaraes scored in the 22nd and 60th minutes and Luke Samford added a goal and an assist for St. Maries (3-5-1, 1-1). … In other IML play, Tyler Pauls had a hat trick and Jimmy Sund scored twice as Bonners Ferry (5-2, 2-0) routed Priest River (0-1, 0-1) 11-2 at Priest River.
Girls soccer
Kayla Stiegemeier scored twice, including the game winner in the 80th minute, as Lakeland (6-1, 5-1) scored twice in the last minute and a half to beat visiting Lake City (5-3-1, 1-2) 3-2 in IEL action at Rathdrum. Natalie Nichols assisted on Stiegemeier’s first goal in the 14th minute and scored in the 78th minute to tie the game at 2 before Stiegemeier’s heroics. … In other IEL action, Sadie Simon had a hat trick and an assist, and Jaimee Myers added a pair of goals as Coeur d’Alene (6-1, 3-0) routed Lewiston (2-4-1, 0-4) 5-1 at Lewiston.

Katie Watson totaled 14 kills and Lydia Tollbom added 11 and three blocks as Sandpoint (1-3) beat Lewiston (2-4) 16-25, 25-14, 26-24, 25-18 in Inland Empire League play at Sandpoint. Lydia Tollbom added 11 kills and three blocks for the Bulldogs … In other IEL play, Kelsey Taylor had five kills as visiting Moscow (4-0) swept Lakeland (1-4) 25-15, 25-14, 25-13 at Rathdrum.
