Erik Meyer, who became Eastern Washington’s all-time leader in total offense, was picked as the Big Sky Conference Offensive Player of the Week, the fourth time in his career he has been recognized.

The All-American senior quarterback completed 22 of 34 passes for 366 yards and three touchdowns as the fifth-ranked Eagles beat Western Oregon 48-7 on Saturday.

Meyer now has 7,440 yards of total offense in his career, passing Mark Tenneson, who had 7,428 yards in 1989-92.

“I didn’t even know about the record. I didn’t hear it when they announced it,” Meyer said after the game. “Eric Kimble told me. He gave me a bad time about missing him on some passes.”

Two of Meyer’s touchdown passes went to Kimble, who had six catches for 145 yards, his 14th 100-yard game. Kimble now has 36 touchdown catches.

Meyer didn’t acknowledge his record, saying: “I want Kimble to break Jerry Rice’s record. We should have had a couple more tonight.”

Rice set the NCAA Division I-AA record with 50 touchdown catches for Mississippi Valley State from 1981-84.

Kimble has 2,984 yards receiving, 30 short of breaking the school record of 3,013 set by Tony Brooks from 1990-93.
