Water, fire opponents set

Three-way races for Valley water and fire districts were narrowed to two candidates each in Tuesday’s primary.

In the race for District 8 fire commissioner, incumbent Gregory Hesse and 29-year volunteer firefighter James Oberst moved forward with 63 percent and 29 percent of the vote.

Preliminary results indicate Josie Zeller and Ed Peck moved on the general election for District 1 water commissioner.

Zeller received 133 votes, Peck 130 and candidate Dick Neff received 118.
