25-year-old man killed in crash
A 25-year-old Rathdrum man was found dead near the scene of a car crash early Saturday, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
Chad M. Stutheit was discovered about 2:30 a.m. by a passerby who first noticed a vehicle near the intersection of Burlington and North Idaho roads.
The initial investigation showed that Stutheit apparently failed to negotiate a corner and drove off the road.
The Jeep rolled several times, ejecting Stutheit, according to a press release from the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office.
Stutheit, who apparently wasn’t wearing a seat belt, died from massive head trauma, the press release said.
Toxicology tests are under way to see if alcohol was a factor in the crash.

POCATELLO
Hundreds protest immigration bill
Immigration protests reached Pocatello on Saturday as more than 200 people marched from the Idaho State University campus to City Hall.
The protesters were marching in opposition to an immigration reform proposal in Congress that would make it a felony to be in the U.S. without the proper immigration paperwork.
“We want Idaho representatives to vote against (the proposal),” said organizer Elysia Lora.
The bill also calls for a fence to be erected along the Mexican border and would make it a felony to immigrate illegally or aid an illegal immigrant.
Paula Moldonado, adviser for La Raza Club at Blackfoot High School in nearby Blackfoot, came to the march with 25 students and said she fears immigration reform could affect her family.
“It affects all immigrants coming to the country, not just Hispanics,” Moldonado said. “The United States was founded by an immigrant population.”
A similar protest is scheduled in Boise this morning.

Coeur d’Alene
Man injured when ATV rolls over
A Coeur d’Alene man was injured Friday night in an all-terrain vehicle accident near the Nettleton Gulch trailhead.
Dennis K. Welling, 28, apparently had rolled his ATV on a trail near Forest Service Road 1562, according to the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office. Welling, who was wearing a helmet, suffered hip and leg injuries and was taken to Kootenai Medical Center.
The accident was around 8 p.m.
Witnesses told officers that Welling was attempting to climb a fairly steep hill when he lost power in the loose rock and rolled over backward.
Trails are wet and unstable at this time due to winter runoff, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
