Not all excited for baseball

The Spokesman-Review

For most of us, the beginning of the baseball season is a metaphor for the optimism of spring. When the grass grows green, flowers bloom, summer looms and anything seems possible.

For John Blanchette, baseball season is when grass has to be mowed, when pollen inflames the sinuses and when begins another season of disappointments. For John, baseball is a harbinger of winter.
