Draped over the back of a chair or across the foot of a bed, there’s nothing like an elegant hand-knitted throw to add a little luxury to any room. Just the right weight for any weather, a soft throw is the perfect accessory for reading, napping or watching a movie, and nothing makes a more thoughtful or appreciated gift.

What you need

If you enjoy knitting, it’s easy to create a little luxury for the special people in your life (as well as for yourself). All you need is yarn, knitting needles and a 13-page, full-color guidebook, “Quick-Knit Throws.”

What you do

The book features complete step-by-step instructions for four inviting throws. If you’re a beginner, a section of general instructions covers the basics and will help you get started right away. An illustrated stitch guide, a knitting needle conversion chart, a guide to abbreviations, a paragraph about gauge and a yarn-weight chart rounds out the collection.

A full-color photo of each completed afghan will help you choose just the right project. Designs include “Sprigs and Braids” (pictured), “Ripple,” “Earthtone Plaid” and “White Feathers.”

How to order the plan

The “Quick-Knit Throws” guidebook, No. LA3615, is $5.95. You can find 19 other lovely afghan designs to knit in a 56-page guidebook, “The Ultimate Book of Knit Afghans,” No. AN1293, for $12.95. Please include $3 for postage and handling and allow about two weeks for delivery.
