With the arrival of Easter, many area churches are celebrating with special services for Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter.
“The Spokane Dream Center is presenting “Behold the Man, A Drama about Jesus,” today and Friday at 7 p.m. at The Met, 901 W. Sprague Ave.

“St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church, 6905 N. Country Homes Blvd., is offering Easter Sunday worship services at 7:30 and 10:30 a.m. and breakfast at 8:30 a.m.

“Shadle Park Presbyterian Church, 5508 N. Alberta St., is offering a Maundy Thursday service at 7:30 p.m. today.
The church will celebrate Easter with a traditional ceremony at 9 a.m. that includes the choir and with a contemporary service at 10:45 a.m. to include the worship team.

“Lidgerwood Presbyterian Church, 4449 N. Nevada St., is offering a classical Tenebrae service today at 7 p.m.
The service will include music and readings from church members.

“The Jubilee and West Central Christian Ministries are presenting the Stations of the Cross Friday starting at the West Bridge Shared Housing Co-Op, 1848 W. Bridge St., at 5:15 p.m. The group will move through various streets in the West Central neighborhood and visit different stations.
The stations also will address social problems, such as prejudice, loneliness, addiction, pornography, oppression and child abuse.

Good Friday services will include a traditional liturgy at noon and a 7 p.m. service that will include the Passion of Jesus for Children and those who love them.
An Easter vigil will be Saturday at 7 p.m. and will include candlelight and contemplative chants.
Easter Sunday services will include a traditional choral Eucharist and a reception at 8 a.m., and a family Eucharist, reception and an egg hunt at 10 a.m.
Child care will be provided for the Thursday, Saturday and Easter Sunday services.

There will be two Good Friday services: an informal service will be at noon , and Service of Darkness will be at 7 p.m.
On Saturday, the church is celebrating with an Easter Eggstravaganza from 1 to 3 p.m. The event will include crafts, music, snacks, an egg hunt and a walk-through drama.
Easter Sunday services will be celebrated at 8 and at 10:45 a.m., and an Easter breakfast of pancakes, sausages and eggs will be served from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m.

“Fowler United Methodist Church, 3928 N. Howard St., is presenting an ecumenical service today at 7 p.m.
The service will include a presentation called “Table Talk,” by Marion Fairman, which includes conversations between Jesus and his friends, enemies and the indifferent. Holy Communion will be open to everyone attending.
The church will offer another ecumenical presentation on Good Friday at 7 p.m. Titled “In His Steps,” by Steven Bomely, the presentation will be a journey of the last day of Jesus. The church sanctuary also will be open from noon to 6 p.m. for meditation.

“Orthodox churches are celebrating Holy Week a week later than Western churches.
Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 1703 N. Washington St, is starting its Holy Week Sunday with the Bridegroom Service.
The service will reflect on our readiness to meet Christ at His Second Coming.

Fund-raising concert
Cheney United Church of Christ, 423 N. Sixth St., Cheney, is presenting Prairie Flyer Bluegrass and Folk in a concert Saturday to raise funds to pay for paving of its north parking lot.
The doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the concert starts at 5 p.m.
The concert is free; contributions will be received.
