Get Out, Get Going

The Spokesman-Review

It’s Egg Storm 2006!

Every year, the residents of Spokane Valley Good Samaritan Village have a festive time the Friday before Easter dyeing more than 2,000 eggs for the retirement center’s community Easter egg hunt. Today is the day they eagerly will watch dozens of children from toddlers to age 12 scour the grounds in search of the brightly colored eggs.

The hunt will begin promptly at 1 p.m. at 17121 E. Eighth Ave. If you show up late, you’ll likely be left in the toddlers’ dust. Kids who bring a nonperishable food item for the Spokane Valley Food Bank will be able to get their picture taken with the Easter Bunny for free. Those without a donation can pay $2 for a picture. Happy hunting!

How about a kiss?

The young actors and actresses at Theater Arts for Children will present their take on the classic Sleeping Beauty tale with a series of performances titled “The Spell of Sleeping Beauty.” Opening night is 7 tonight, so pack up the family for an evening cheaper than going to the movies.

Admission to opening night is $5, which includes an invitation to the cast party after the show. Other performances are scheduled through April 30.

Shows will be at 7 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays and at 2 p.m. on Sundays. Admission to those performances is $4. All performances will be at the Spokane Valley Community Center, 10814 E. Broadway Ave. Call 892-5413 for tickets.

Breakfast buffet

Parents worn out from egg hunts and children on chocolate highs can take a break from cooking at an Easter breakfast buffet hosted by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1435. The meal will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the post, 212 S. David Road.

The cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children ages 6-12. Children under 6 are free.
