Speech therapy clinic will open at Shadle Center
Achieve Center, a pediatric speech therapy clinic, will open early next month in a recently completed building at Shadle Center.
The opening awaits final construction touches on the new four-unit building just east of Wal-Mart, according to Achieve Center manager Zack Cutshall.
The clinic will have two speech language pathologists. Their clients will range from newborns to those 18 years of age, Cutshall said.
Achieve Center will be something different for the shopping center on West Wellesley Avenue between Alberta and Belt streets.
Most of the other businesses are tagged with corporate logos – from the Safeway supermarket and the ubiquitous Starbucks outlet on the west side to the Blockbuster and McDonald’s on the east end – with the giant Wal-Mart in the middle.
Typically, Achieve Center’s neighbors in the new building will be Verizon Wireless, Quizno’s Subs and Mother’s Cupboard Nutrition.
Achieve Center won’t be starting cold here. It’s an offshoot of a successful clinic in Wenatchee. The number of commuting patients from Spokane prompted the opening of the clinic here, Cutshall said.
The local center’s two therapists both have master’s degrees, Cutshall said, and one of them, Hal Hunsaker is a co-founder of Achieve Center.
The other therapist, Tammy Duncan, earned her master’s at Eastern Washington University and her bachelor’s at Washington State University. Hunsaker graduated from Brigham Young University and received his master’s from EWU.
