Man sentenced for molestations at day care

Associated Press The Spokesman-Review

EVERETT – A man who sexually abused children at his stepmother’s unlicensed day care has been sentenced to 8 1/2 years in prison.

Christopher Lee Cearfoss, 27, of Everett, was convicted in Snohomish County Superior Court of two counts of first-degree child rape in the 1990s.

On Friday, one of the victims, now 15, told Judge Linda Krese that the assaults cost her emotionally, and now they are costing her family financially as they pay for counseling.

Cearfoss repeatedly abused the girl between 1996 and 1999, prosecutors said. At the time, Cearfoss’ stepmother ran a day care out of her homes and sometimes left Cearfoss to watch the children, court documents said.

Deputy Prosecutor Diane Nipert said Cearfoss admitted to investigators that there were as many as five more victims, although no one else has come forward.
