Fairfield City Council – Council members heard a presentation on the comprehensive plan. The town has been notified that it will receive a $9,412 grant from Spokane County Parks and Recreation to purchase picnic tables and barbecue grills for the upper park. The town will be doing mosquito fogging beginning in May. Council members decided to do road oiling again this year, but citizens will have to pay to have it done. They also decided to replace the manually operated sprinkler system in the lower park with a fully automatic system. (Source: Town clerk Sue Adams)
Fire District 13 (Newman Lake) – Commissioners have received 10 applications for the open fire chief position. The hiring committee will do phone interviews with all the candidates and make a recommendation to the commissioners on five finalists to interview in person. (Source: Secretary Kathleen Small)
