Teen arrested on vehicle theft, drug charges

A 15-year-old was arrested Monday on a warrant connected to vehicle theft. A drug violation was added after police say he told them he found a bag of meth in the back seat of the patrol car.

According to a press release from Reagan, police tracked down the juvenile at an apartment on the 2700 Block of North Bowdish Road after a report of a fight at Montgomery Street and Pines Road about 6:15 p.m.

One of the suspected fighters was wanted on a vehicle-theft warrant, and police arrested the suspect outside the apartment, Reagan said.

While in the patrol car, the minor passed officers a bag of methamphetamine he said had been on the seat when he got in.

At the start of his shift, the arresting officer had searched his car specifically to counter similar claims, Reagan said, which is a routine police practice.
