Tigers 7, Indians 6: At Detroit, Craig Monroe hit a two-out, two-run homer in the eighth inning and Sean Casey added two RBIs to give Detroit the victory over Cleveland.

Yankees 5, Orioles 4: At Baltimore, Jorge Posada homered off Chris Ray to break a ninth-inning tie, and New York rallied for their fifth straight victory with the win over Baltimore.

White Sox 6, Blue Jays 4: At Toronto, A.J. Pierzynski hit a three-run homer and Jon Garland outpitched Roy Halladay to win his eighth straight decision, leading Chicago to a victory over Toronto.

Red Sox 3, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., David Ortiz had his 25th two-homer game and Curt Schilling threw seven solid innings, becoming the major leagues’ second 14-game winner as Boston beat Tampa Bay.

Twins 8, Royals 5 (10): At Kansas City, Mo., Jason Bartlett scored the go-ahead run on a wild pitch by Scott Dohmann with two outs in the 10th inning and Torii Hunter added a two-run single as Minnesota got the victory over Kansas City.

Rangers 7, Angels 3: At Anaheim, Calif., Mark DeRosa hit his third career grand slam, rookie Ian Kinsler (who played for the Spokane Indians) had a go-ahead two-run single, and Texas took over second place in the West with the victory over Los Angeles.
