Health for All links people with care programs

Name of program: Health for All

What it does: This program helps individuals and families find health-care programs and also puts them in touch with other community resources.

Since the program started in 1998, it has helped more than 20,000 residents of Eastern Washington get health-care insurance and has trained 1,000 professionals and volunteers to provide this service.

Who runs it: Community-Minded Enterprises

How to get help: Anyone who is uninsured or underinsured may call the program, where their needs will be assessed and screened.

The state will determine eligibility, and the program then will get the patient in touch with federal, state or local programs, depending upon their needs.

Typical client: “There is no typical client,” said Julie Griffith, the health and wellness division director. She said she sees a lot of working families who might have no insurance or have very expensive premiums.

Single adults, pregnant women, families and children are also eligible for some of these programs.

Residents of Adams, Asotin, Columbia, Ferry, Garfield, Grant, Lincoln, Pend Oreille, Spokane, Stevens and Whitman counties are eligible.

How to help: The nonprofit is always looking for volunteers to work the phones or to help get people signed up for insurance programs.

Health for All also takes donations.

If you are interested in volunteering or making a donation or are looking for health care, call the Health for All office at 444-3066.
