Dodgers 4, Rockies 3: At Los Angeles, Kenny Lofton singled home the winning run in the bottom of the ninth and Los Angeles defeated Colorado to move into first place in the West.

Astros 5, Pirates 2: At Houston, Roger Clemens got his 345th win, allowing one run in six innings to lead Houston over Pittsburgh and complete a three-game sweep. Clemens’ 2.32 ERA since June 22 leads N.L. starters.

Cardinals 6, Reds 1: At Cincinnati, Scott Spiezio hit the last of three homers off Bronson Arroyo, and St. Louis gained a series split with a victory over Cincinnati. St. Louis leads the Reds by 3 1/2 games in the Central.

Mets 7, Padres 3: At New York, David Wright broke a seventh-inning tie with an RBI double and New York defeated San Diego to complete a three-game sweep and open a season-high 14-game lead in the East.

Marlins 9, Nationals 6: At Washington, Josh Willingham’s four hits included a homer, and fellow rookie Dan Uggla added a two-run shot as Florida beat Washington.

Brewers 8, Cubs 6: At Milwaukee, Doug Davis won his third straight decision, handing Chicago consecutive losses for the first time in nearly three weeks.
